TFAiR week one

One week into my residency at Canberra Glassworks - no action shots as of yet, but to give you an idea of the things I have been making/intend on making, here are a few shots of my workspace and cane that I have pulled over the first week.  

TFAiR at Canberra Glassworks 16 April - 27 May

It has begun! 

I have just commenced my Thomas Foundation Artist in Residence at Canberra Glassworks in Kingston, ACT.

Throughout the residency I will be working on a number of different things. First up, I'm going to be pulling a bunch of cane for some new product ideas I have, as well as some more extensive exhibition pieces. 

Over the six weeks I am spending here, I am hoping to experiment with a few new ideas, as well as extend on old ones.

The residency is from now until 27 May. Most weeks i will be blowing glass Wednesday mornings 8-12, Thursday afternoons 12:30-4:30 and Saturday mornings.

New pipes

Something to boast about!
The new pipes i ordered arrived the other day from Spiral Arts. They are totally sweet! and oh what a luxury it is to use pipes that are actually straight :)
These babies will pretty much make the work themselves!

On somewhat of a segway...the investment into new pipes can only be made possible by selling work, so luckily, today I packed up a bunch of new work to send off to Canberra Glassworks and Sturt Gallery.

product run

I had my first official session as a hirer on monday night! turned out to be quite successful, Kristel and Katie assisted me and we did a run of my Fusion vases and carafes. Funnily enough, after assisting Nick Mount in the morning, then waiting until 5pm to start the session, we were all pretty exhausted, but managed to pump out 7 vases and 5 carafes!

Goblets

First day back at work for the year and managed to score a sweet new goblet to add to my collection, thanks Tom Moore!
